 Attention all Referees,

As all of you are probably aware at this time, North Reading is moving to the Essex league from the Middlesex League and will be starting in the fall. 

How this affects you as referee is for those of you who are Grade 8, there will be a new assignor, Jerry Morin, rather than Al Cosantino assigning you should you choose to switch leagues.  While it is your choice, it is highly recommended that you do.  This is one of the things North Reading can offer as support to the Essex league and was part of their justification for accepting us into the League. 

Jerry will assign all U10 and up games in the Fall and Spring. 

In order to make this happen, he has asked me to communicate to all of you his email address so you can all send him a note (refer to email sent by Brooke Schaefer for this information).  PLEASE do this so he can assign you referee # to initiate the payment process.  Also, you will need to go into essexrefs.net and setup a new account with your choice of password, activate it, and then click on the availability link to let Jerry know when you can referee.  This is similar to the Middlesex process for those of you who have done that. 

For Grade 9 refs, you can certainly email Jerry and follow the above process, but please let him know if you are a new referee so he assigns you properly.  I will still be assigning refs for the in-town program, so you will not need to get a referee number yet if you are a 1st year Grade 9. The recertification classes you take are offered by Massachusetts, so they are the same for both leagues and are in the massref.com link.

Along that note, there is a Grade 8 bridge course (to get from Grade 9 to 8) in Peabody on August 30.  There are also some recertification classes in Peabody on December 7th.  These are clearly the closest locations to us, so you may want to consider these and sign up soon to secure your spot.
